This past week my cousins and I went on a road trip to Santa Barbara, California for a few days! I decided to highlight a few fun things we did on the trip, from fancy dinners to riding in (very touristy) bikes along the beach!
We started off our morning by visiting the Santa Barbara Botanical Gardens, which was the best idea! I had visited the gardens once before (about three years ago) and I always love seeing the beauty of the flowers and endlessly tall trees. It wasn’t exactly a hike, but definitely a little more challenging than a walk (does that make sense?). We walked around and took a lot of pictures for about thirty minutes to an hour, and then headed up to the little building to see the view of the Catalina Islands. There’s a little seating area outside as well as a building with a lot of botanic art hung up on the walls. We were the only visitors there, so it was nice having the grounds all to ourselves!
It was a bit too foggy to see the islands, but the view was amazing nonetheless. Throughout the whole trip, I don’t think the sun ever came out. We’ve definitely been having suspiciously cold and gloomy weather in SoCal recently, which is very unexpected in June – but hey, I’m not complaining!
We had dinner at The Stonehouse Restaurant in San Ysidro Ranch, which was on the pricier side but definitely affordable if you stay away from the extravagant foods on the menu. As for dessert, we all shared one plate of amazing orange crepes that the waiters made at our table! I would recommend getting one plate of dessert to share with everyone to save money, since it probably would have been too much food for just one person anyways. This restaurant was definitely an amazing experience, and I think it’s a great place to visit if you’re ever in Santa Barbara. The gardens around the restaurant and hotel are gorgeous and so nice to explore after we ate!
We spent the afternoon exploring State Street and even doing an escape room at the House of Clues! And to end our trip, we had to do the most tourist-y thing in Santa Barbara – riding in the 5-person bike along the beach! I’m not gonna lie, it was really fun, but I can’t even imagine how silly we looked! There’s a bike rental store just a few blocks from the pier and they have a ton of different bikes that can work for you or your group. If it’s your first time in Santa Barbara, I definitely think this would be a fun activity!
Aaaand here are a few last pictures I got from the trip!
